Catching Up !

The next SOVA exhibition is at the Queen Elizabeth Community Centre , 2302 Bridge Road, Oakville, from Feb 29th to June 5th, 2020. All of the artists have been getting ready for this exhibition and multiple other commitments for the year.

Our SOVA exhibition in the summer will be in Niagara Falls, at Steve Wilson Studios and the Gallery, July 12th to August 8th.

Steve Wilson is pleased to announce that out of 217 artists and 575 submissions his piece "Written History" Acrylic/Colour Pencil on Canvas 36"x26" was accepted into the SCA Open International Juried Online  Exhibition that runs from March 15th to June 15th on the SCA website https://societyofcanadianartists.com/

HELEN DUPLASSIE NBWS, SOVA

Helen has been busy getting ready for the Oakville exhibition. In January, Helen was involved in January, in the "Catch Phrase" show at Neilson Park Art Centre and in Beaux-Arts Winter Show which ran until the end of the month.

As well, this artist was contacted after an exhibition by SOVA at the Etobicoke Civic Centre.

"Your name was provided to me by Sova while I was attending a meeting at Etobicoke City Hall.  I saw two striking pieces of art you created which I would like to exhibit on our Economic Development Journal of Canada website (ecdevjournal.com).  This is a not-for-profit website focused on sharing information on Canadian economic development articles that are read by over 50,000 unique visitors."  

The paintings are, Tribute to Group of Seven" and "Road to Elora." .

ROBERT CHISHOLM SOVA

When you visit Studio 202 at the Alton Mill Arts Centre, most days you would see artist Robert Chisholm hard at work. Robert has multiple shows planned for this year, and below you can see this talented artist completing his most recent painting of the beautiful Bluenose 11 ship.

LYNDEN COWAN OSA, SCA,CFS,SOVA,Associate Member of AFC, NOAPS

Artist Lynden Cowan has just recently completed a new painting titled Tobermory, 30 by 40 inch oil on canvas.

You will find this artist most weekends in the Alton Mill Arts Centre studio, working on paintings for upcoming shows and competitions. As well, in January, this artist is now a new member of NOAPS .

Lynden’s work will be in the April edition of American Art Collector.

Talented artist Margaret Pardy, also had her artwork accepted into the SCA Open International Juried Online  Exhibition that runs from March 15th to June 15th on the SCA website. The artwork selected was a scratchboard titled What Big Teeth.  https://societyofcanadianartists.com/

As well as the upcoming SOVA shows, Margaret is busy working for multiple competitions and exhibitions. One upcoming show is the Buckhorn Festival August 14 to 16.

Above you see artist Margaret Pardy with several pieces underway. These beautiful artworks require many, many hours of tiny detailed work., and lots and lots of patience, but the end result is very striking.


CHARLENE NICKELS NBWS, SOVA

Artist Charlene Nickels has just completed some amazing new artworks and is participating in the SOVA shows. Most weekends you can enjoy watching Charlene in Studio 202 at the Alton Mill Arts Centre, and she has beautiful new works under way.

JANICE YKEMA OSA,CFS,SOVA

This wonderful artist is noted for her fun, whimsical paintings, and has been hard at work preparing for many shows this year, as well as participating in the SOVA exhibitions. One exhibition that you will be able to view Janice’s work will be the Arts on the Credit Fine Art Show, April 24 to 26th in Port Credit, Mississauga at the Waterside Inn.
